Cyprus: Upon Reflection

After writing my last blog entry I realised: this whole journey is a test. It's not just about me. Anything that is asked of me is part of that journey. Helping me to improve myself. Helping me to become less selfish. Helping to reduce my ego. It's not easy, believe me but it's all part and parcel of this whole journey; not just for this here and now but for eternity.

So it’s been a while. A really long while actually but I’m back and I’m hoping to keep this up this time around. Where have I been you may ask. Well I’ve been here, I’ve been around, I’ve been busy but not busy writing and that is a massive regret for me.
Today I was on a People Management course for work and as part of this course, I have to look at myself, be insightful, answer reflective questions, think about my purpose. During this time of self rediscovery, I remembered that writing is my passion. I say remembered, I never actually forgot but I’ve allowed the everyday to take over and I put my dreams and desires to the side.
Realising this made me feel quite sad, I was so emotional I had to fight back the tears. Writing and becoming a writer use to be such a passion of mine, my fingers were always itching to grab hold of a pen or to start typing and write and write and write.
It’s so easy to allow life to take over. We have to pay bills, we have to look after our families etc and…

The religion of love that doesn't allow you to fall in love...not unless you're married first.

But how can you fall in love with somebody you don't know? Once you're married that's it. There's no turning back from this man/woman and the journey you're about to embark upon together. It should be a beautiful thing right? Not this clinical thing that people hasten to prepare.

Why shouldn't we be allowed to know love and fall completely in to that person before we decide to marry them? Marriage is a life long commitment is it not? Why should we rush it? Why shouldn't we wait and be sure it's absolutely right before jumping the broom?

I was born and bred in this deen and I know it is a religion of peace and love but I just don't get this concept. I'm sorry.
